Meet Dr. Jennifer N. Seo

Dr. Jennifer Nguyen Seo, BSc, DMD, MClD (Ortho), FRCDC is a board-certified orthodontist. As an accredited dental specialist in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics, she prioritizes patient comfort, trust, and long-term health through personalized, patient-centered treatment. Dr. Seo provides compassionate, airway-friendly orthodontic care for children, teens, and adults in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. She speaks English, Cantonese Chinese, Korean, and French.

Dr. Seo earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and East Asian Studies from Western University and her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Sydney in Australia. She completed advanced hospital-based training through the University of British Columbia’s General Practice Residency (GPR), where she treated medically complex patients. Before specializing, she worked as a general dentist and hospital staff dentist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto.

She returned to Western to complete a competitive three-year Master’s degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, followed by achieving fellowship (FRCDC) status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada—a national distinction that recognizes the highest standard of specialty expertise. Her research focussed on facial growth and development, orthodontic treatment need, and the relationship between oral health and mental health. These perspectives have shaped her trauma-informed, whole-person approach to orthodontic care.

Dr. Seo taught as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry and served on the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry Admissions Committee. She has presented at many national and international conferences about orthodontics, sleep-disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), trauma-informed care, and public health.

Dr. Seo is actively involved in professional leadership and advocacy, and has received numerous awards for her research and volunteer work. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), Canadian Association of Orthodontists (CAO), and Ontario Association of Orthodontists (OAO), and serves on the inaugural AAO Task Force on Mental Wellness and National Advocacy Team. She has volunteered with nonprofit organizations focused on health equity and access to care for over a decade.

A Toronto native and alumnus of the University of Toronto Schools (UTS), Dr. Seo is proud to provide care for patients and families in her hometown. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, trying new matcha cafes, playing basketball, and watching the latest superhero movies.
